New Delhi: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, has said that leaders of both the UPA and the NDA are playing partisan politics over the alleged encounter killing of Ishrat Jahan and called for early completion of the investigation into the matter.
“Both the NDA and the UPA are playing vote bank politics,” said the MP during the Calling Attention Motion in the Lok Sabha.
“If the second affidavit was not given, would it have impacted the case in any manner? My belief is that it would not have. Why is it that three years have passed and the case has not come to a natural conclusion?” he asked in the wake of controversies over the affidavits given to the court by the UPA government and the allegations of interference in the investigation process.
“All inquiries have said that this is an extra judicial killing. This was first said by the additional judicial magistrate of Ahmedabad, then by the SIT and then by the CBI. All three inquiries have said that the encounter was fake … the encounter was staged,” said Singh Deo.
The BJD MP further highlighted the deep rooted rot that has set into the criminal investigation and judicial system in the country and blamed both the UPA and the NDA for misusing investigating agencies such as the IB and CBI for their political ends.
“I am saying political parties across the board, and I say this with responsibility, that both the UPA, in its time, and the NDA, in its time, have attempted to play politics with the case of Ishrat Jahan rather than give justice to the entire incident or the case which has been registered,” he said.
