Cancer patient kills wife for denying him sex, held

Noida: Police Sunday arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife after she refused to engage in sexual activity with him because his mouth cancer had left him with a hole in his cheek.

The accused, Ajay alias Mahesh was a barber was absconding since the murder. His wife was identified as Mamata Devi. The bizarre incident occurred July 11 from Chhijarsi village in Noida, police said.

During interrogation, he confessed that his wife refused to have sex with him due to his medical condition. This led to an altercation between the couple following which, Ajay, in a fit of rage, slit her throat.

Sources said, the couple was married for 17 years. The couple lived in Lalitpur and had two children- a 16-year-old girl and an 8-year-old son. In bid to find job, Mamata had moved to her brother’s house in Noida around 20 days back.

Later, Ajay also arrived at his brother-in-law’s house. On the other hand, Ajay suspected his wife was cheating on him as she had not been physically intimate with him for several months.

According to sources, Ajay had developed cancer last year and his condition had worsened in the past 6-7 months.

A case of murder was registered and Ajay was produced before a magistrate. He was then remanded in jail after the court rejected his bail plea. “He has been booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Amit Kumar Singh, station house officer, Phase 3 police station.
