Kendrapara: Days after complaint by a woman who accused her husband of instant ‘triple talaq’ over phone for not delivering a boy, Sadar police finally registered a case against the victim’s husband, father-in law and the mother-in-law Friday.
The complainant, Rumana Permin (25) had lodged an FIR at Kendrapara Sadar Police November 3rd accusing her husband Sk Salauddin (28), of Mogalbag Mirzapatana for giving her triple talaq October 1st, 2018 with the support of his father, Fakaruddin Khan and mother, Firoza Bibi.
In her complaint, Rumana alleged that she had married Salauddin January 4 last year. At the time of marriage, her parents had given gold ornaments and other household furniture as dowry.
However, soon after the marriage, her father-in-law, Fakaruddin Khan, mother-in-law, Firoza bibi, and husband demanded a car as dowry from her father.
When her father expressed his inability to fulfill their demand, she was allegedly tortured both mentally and physically. Her in-laws also threatened her that they would solemnise a second wedding of their son elsewhere if she failed to meet their demands.
She was allegedly forced to remain empty stomach most of the time. Even, if she fell sick her husband and in-laws did not give her medicine, although the husband owns a medicine shop at medical road of Kendrapara township.
Meanwhile, delivering a girl child 11th October 2017 increased the hardship day after day as her in-laws wanted a baby boy instead of a girl. She had to face their wrath and was forced to tolerate their ill treatment. They used fowl language and she was under tremendous mental trauma because she failed to deliver a baby boy that her in-laws and husband desperately wanted from her, alleged the victim in her FIR.
Acting on the FIR, Sadar police Friday registered a case under Section 498 A, 323, 294, 506, 34 IPC, Sections 4 under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance, 2018 against the victim’s husband Salauddin Khan and her father-in-law, Fakaruddin Khan, her mother-in-law, Firoza Bibi.
“Police have started investigation by registering a case, no arrest has been made so far,” said Kabuli Barik, the IIC of Kendrapara town police station.
