Bhubaneswar, June 9: The state government Tuesday decided to issue caste and residence certificates to children at the time of providing birth certificates to them.
A decision to this effect was taken during a review meeting of revenue and disaster management department chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday. “The move will help sort out many problems,” Patnaik said while directing R&DM officials to take required steps in this regard.
He asked officials to outline within a month the use of latest technologies at all tehsils and sub-collectorates across the state for quick issuance of land records, affidavits and other crucial certificates. He stressed bringing in required changes to existing laws to expedite the process of e-payment of stamp duty. An institute for training of revenue officials will be set up in Bhubaneswar, sources said.
R&DM minister Bijyashree Routray said, “The CM has also asked his department to bring the anti-land grabbing bill during the next assembly session.”
The minister said the state will again conduct a fresh survey to identify the landless and homeless families to help them with land and loan by October this year. He said as per the survey report of 2011-12, the state had around 1.5lakh such families, of which 1.15 lakh have already been provided with land.
It was revealed at the meeting that the state government had set a target to construct 30,000 cyclone-resistant pucca houses in Phailin-affected districts of Ganjam, Khurda and Puri.
Officials said that more flood and cyclone shelters will be set up in flood and cyclone-affected districts across the state and the construction of as many as 879 such shelters will be expedited.
