Bhubaneswar, July 4: The sexual harassment case against Oriya actor Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pom Pom took a new turn Monday after the minor girl’s father filed an affidavit in the district and sessions court seeking withdrawal of the case.
The father pledged before the court that the matter has been amicably resolved between them and they don’t want to proceed in the case any further. The affidavit came even before the police have submitted the case diary in the incident, which is due July 11.
Public prosecutor Anil Kumar Patra said his office had not been officially informed about the affidavit and would oppose it when it is brought to its notice on the next hearing. Meanwhile, the bail plea of Pom Pom was deferred by the court till July 11 after the police asked for seven days to submit case diary in the case.
Satya Ranjan Samal, president of the Friends Foundation Trust, the NGO that had first lodged the complaint on behalf of the minor girl, said the victim’s father’s affidavit won’t stand in the court since the Child Welfare Committee is dealing the case.
Samal lodged a complaint with Mahila police, alleging that the father is trying to divert the issue of sexual abuse of girls in the entertainment industry. Samal told
Orissa POST that the father has been gained over by Pom Pom’s men.
“The father is not allowing any of us to meet the victim and instead has been hobnobbing with Pom Pom’s men during last few days,” Samal said.
Samal, in his complaint, demanded an inquiry into the networks of Pom Pom and others in the film industry who allegedly lure young girls and later exploit them sexually.
