Bhubaneswar: The top officials of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) have decided to alert the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) about some locals using the airport premises for grazing of their cattle.
“We will take up the issue with the civic body and it will take necessary action against the people involved in these activities,” said a top official of AAI.
However, officials confirmed that the animals will not enter the operational area of the airport. “Our operational area is totally secured. Stray animals will not enter the operational area. But, we have to stop this trend as it would damage the reputation of the airport,” said officials.
Significantly, people are leaving cattle even at ongoing construction site of AAI at BPIA. Tour operators also agreed that the trend has to be stopped.
“BPIA is the most important airport in the state. The pathetic sight of animals grazing on its premises will tarnish our state’s image,” said BK Behera, a capital based tour operator.
