Cuttack: Three special teams of the state Crime Branch (CB) Saturday left for Raipur, Bolangir and Patnagarh to collect more information on parcel bomb mastermind Punjilal Meher.
Sources said in all nine CB officials were dispatched to the three places to look into all aspects of the crime.
It has been learnt that CB officials will try to find out the auto-rickshaw driver who had taken Punjilal to a courier agency office. “The auto driver is the prime witness in the case,” said a CB official.
Moreover, CB officials are planning to interrogate a few family members of Punjilal with regard to the parcel bomb explosion.
CB officials, meanwhile, interrogated Punjilal for the third consecutive day Saturday.
CB sources said Punjilal, an English lecturer at Jyoti Bikash College at Bhainsha in Bolangir, had started preparing the parcel bomb soon after Diwali. “Punjilal used to visit Kiribangi forest to test several crude bombs before preparing the parcel bomb. We have seized a pressure cooker which was used in the parcel bomb preparation,” said a CB official.
Punjilal had tried to kill his colleague Sanjukta Sahu on several occasions but failed. He was angry with Sahu, who replaced him as the principal of Jyoti Bikash College.
“Punjilal had read several books on gangsters and mafia prior to the bomb explosion that claimed two lives. We have seized at least 20 such books from his possession,” said the official.
