Bhubaneswar: Rose Valley Group chairman Gautam Kundu was interrogated Thursday at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters here after he was taken on remand by the central agency January 25.
DIG S Bagchi, CBI, questioned the chit fund company chief with regard to the multi-crore chit fund scam. Kundu was also reportedly asked if he had any political links with regard to running his business.
The CBI has included 131 witnesses and 257 documents in the chargesheet filed January 7 against the Rose Valley Group. Kundu and other three executives — managing director (MD) Sibamaya Datta and two directors Ashok Kumar Saha and Ram Lal Goswami — have been charged under sections 120 (B), 420, 409 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4 and 6 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act. The company allegedly had duped investors across the country to the tune of nearly Rs 17,000 crore.
