Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths Saturday arrested Indu Dewan for her alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) group, which has swindled crores of rupees from gullible investors.
Indu is the sister of Mumbai-based model Preeti Bhatia, who too was earlier arrested by the Central agency for her links with AT group and its chief Pradeep Sethy.
According to sources, Indu and Preeti were directors of Mumbai-based Prismheights Films Entertainment Private Limited (PFEPL), which had its registered office at Santa Cruz (West) area in Mumbai.
The AT Group is said to have invested several crores of its investors’ money in PFEPL.
Sethy, Indu and Preeti were directors of PFEPL, which was reportedly set up in January 2010. The company was involved in motion picture, radio, television and other entertainment activities.
Earlier, Indu and her husband Vikram Dewan were interrogated by the agency’s officials at the CBI office here in August.
Notably, a local court had also rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Indu.
Meanwhile, Preeti’s counsel said his client might get bail since she had deposited `1,17,83,000 with the special chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court of the CBI as a precondition set by the Supreme Court for hearing of her bail plea.
“The court may now grant her the bail as the amount has been deposited in the form of a demand draft in the court,” her lawyer AK Singh told Orissa POST.
Preeti was lodged in Jharpada jail after she was arrested by CBI October 10, 2014.
