CBI nabs three over railway job scam

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths Wednesday arrested three persons from Cuttack and West Bengal in connection with a Railway recruitment scam.

According to CBI officials, the accused were identified as Kishore Chandra Pradhan of Cuttack, Narayan Patra of Kolkata and Govind Sinha of Hawara in West Bengal. The accused are being brought to Delhi after taking them on transit remand from a jurisdictional court, added the officials.

They further stated that the accused allegedly opened a fake website in the name of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). Fake recruitment notices and information regarding interview dates were being uploaded with the intention to dupe job-seekers. CBI had registered a case following a complaint from the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

Raids were conducted at six places in Odisha and West Bengal. During the search, application forms of victims and other incriminating articles like mobile phones, Laptops and other articles were seized.

According to initial estimates, the accused have duped over 40 candidates to the tune of Rs 40 lakh. Further investigation into the matter is underway, CBI officials said.
