CBI to zero in on Angul

Angul, Jan 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state, is learnt to have zeroed in on the town following the arrest of tainted Seashore chief Prasant Das’s brother Prabhat Das.
The duo, hailing from Angul, offers ample scope to the sleuths to probe their shady deals and possible links in related scams in the town.
Prabhat is learnt to have purchased 160 acres of land from people in the area through his company Falcon Consultancy Ltd and latter sold them to Seashore in which he is a director. He was also the branch manager of the tainted ponzi firm.
These plots were sold showing them as land belonging to various people. He was helped by influential persons like political leaders, lawyers and land brokers. While Prabhat purchased land as Falcon proprietor, later he purchased them as the director of the ponzi firm. Earlier, CBI had raided the house of real estate broker Chabi Narayan Sahu November 28 and had probed the dealing between him and Seashore.
The same day the CBI raided a crusher unit on the outskirts of Angul and questioned its owner and a contractor.
Subhankar Nayak, who has been arrested by the CBI, is learnt to have close links with some influential people in the town. Nayak is learnt to have visited Angul several times for Seashore work.
