Centre seeks info on disabled-friendly buildings

New Delhi:  The Union government has asked different departments in Orissa to enlist the number of public offices under their control for making them disabled friendly.

Different departments in the state have been asked by the state nodal department, the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department to enlist the buildings under their control which should be made disabled friendly under the Accessible India Campaign.

Under this campaign, several government buildings in 10 cities in the state have to be made disabled friendly. First, 50 per cent of the government buildings need to be audited for disability comfort levels and later they would be turned into disabled friendly with the assistance from the Central government.  PNN
