Jaleswar: A tanker carrying chemicals caught fire on NH-60 in Jaleswar area of Balasore, Wednesday.
Reports said a front tyre of the container vehicle burst which resulted in overturning of the vehicle. The tanker got damaged while the container burnt to ashes due to chemical leakage.
Firefighters and police rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after four-hour long exercise.
After the mishap, the atmosphere was heavy with polluting chemicals.
The driver of the vehicle was absconding till the last reports came in.
