Angul: Tensions ran high at the district headquarters hospital here after a one and a half years old child died Sunday, allegedly due to medical negligence.
The deceased was identified as Suman Pradhan, son of Sankarshan Pradhan of Kuio Jamunali area in Angul district.
According to Sankarshan, he had brought his son, who was suffering from fever, to the DHH at about 8.30am. He was not able to consult a doctor on his arrival as there was a kilometer-long queue.
He pleaded with the security personnel on duty and DHH staffs to allow him to consult a doctor. But none took pity on him. With no option left, he had to wait for one and a half hour in the queue. But before his turn, his son breathed his last, he alleged.
The hospital authority even asked me to take the body without post-mortem, he further alleged.
When asked, additional district medical officer (Medical) Dr Laxminarayan Bisoi said he had not received any complaint in this regard. If any complaint is lodged, it would be investigated and then appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible.
