Jajpur: Superstition had the better of a family in Badkipal village in this district, as they subjected a boy to a crude practice of treatment— by use of ‘kula’ (bamboo-made winnow) to heal him of viral fever.
The incident was reported from the area under Raghunathpur panchayat near Binjharpur. A video has surfaced wherein the boy was seen holding the winnow (kula) in his mouth and being chased by the villagers. When the victim boy got tired and could not run, the villagers beat him with a stick.
The childline officials were alerted by some eyewitnesses to the incident. They rescued the boy and filed a case against the family and some locals.
