Top seed local lad Chinmay Pradhan justified his billing and emerged champion of the AITA-OTA 50K Men’s Tennis Tournament after taming state mate Ansu Kumar Bhuyan 6-3, 6-1 in the final at the KIIT court here Friday.It was a lop-sided affair. Ansu gave some challenge in the first set, but in the second set, Chinmay prevailed completely calling all the shots.
Champion Chinamy bagged 15 points along with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 6500 and the runner-up Ansu got 12 points and a cash award of Rs 4,500.
Ranjit’s knock prop Orissa
Ranjit Singh (109, 245b, 16×4) scored a brilliant century to help Orissa score 228 for the loss of five wickets in their first innings on day one of their four-day match against Railways in a Plate Group-B match of the U-23 Col. CK Nayudu Trophy cricket tournament at Patiala, Saturday.
Orissa’s innings was also aided by a stroke full half century by Gourav Mahapatra (67, 100b, 11×4, 2×6). At stumps, Priyatosh Paramanik (20 no) and Kameswar Barik (16 n o) were occupying the crease. A Mishra (3/36) was the pick of the Railways bowlers.

Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired, Orissa selected a 16- member state team for the East Zone cricket tournament for the visually impaired at Ranchi, November 4-7. Md Jafar Iqbal will lead the side, while Sukhram Majhi will be his deputy.
