Kataka: As the Police intensified their investigation following the arrest of Choudwar Circle Jail Superintendent Sujit Kumar Roul on allegations of forgery and manipulation of prison records, Kataka DCP has ordered officials to search and trace the ‘missing’ jail minute book.
At the same time, former jailor of the prison, Santoshini Das, has lodged a fresh complaint alleging that she was being pressurised and threatened to withdraw the previous case against Roul. Roul has been accused of forging official documents and the signatures of other jail officials.
Following allegations of tampering with the jail’s minute book, police have not yet been able to recover the document from him. Kataka DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo has ordered a search operation to recover the minute book. According to sources, Roul was allegedly absent from duty without permission on the night when two undertrial prisoners from Bihar escaped from Choudwar jail.
He has also been accused of forging the signature of former jailer Santoshini Das in the jail’s minute book and preparing fabricated documents to show a change in charge after the jailbreak. Das had earlier lodged a complaint seeking registration of an FIR against Roul. She alleged that Roul remained absent from duty without permission and reported for duty only after the jail break.
She further alleged that the official gate in-out registers of Choudwar Circle Jail for October 1, 2 and 3, 2025, were deliberately manipulated to show Roul’s continuous presence inside the jail during official duty hours. According to the complaint, after the escape of the two undertrials, Roul allegedly forged Das’ signature in the jail minute book October 9 without her knowledge or consent.
The alleged acts were intended to create evidence, mislead the authorities and shift responsibility for the incident, Das alleged. Das has urged police to seize and preserve the original gate in-out registers for the relevant dates, the senior superintendent’s minute book and CCTV footage. She has also sought a forensic examination of the signature allegedly forged in her name.
