City clinics, labs sans licences: Vig

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials, during an enquiry, have found that several nursing homes, clinics and diagnostics centres here are operating without licences and violating other guidelines.
“After hearing complaints that nursing homes, clinics and diagnostics laboratories were operating sans valid licences and without depositing required registration and renewal fees apart from violating guidelines under Orissa Clinical Establishments (Control and Regulation) Act, 1990, an enquiry was taken up to verify the veracity of the allegations,” vigilance officials said.
“Physical verification of 22 nursing homes, clinics and diagnostic centres in Bhubaneswar were conducted January 12 and 13. During investigation, we found that SRL Diagnostics Private Limited in Goutam Nagar area, Sanket Clinic and Laboratories in IRC Village, and KP Clinic and Laboratories in Bapuji Nagar are operating without valid licences. SRL is operating without a licence since 2011,“ they added.
“Panda Nursing Home Private Limited at Press Colony of Unit-III here is operating without registration while Seva Clinic in Acharya Vihar is operating without a licence. Four other such health institutions have shut down their operations long time back.
The remaining 13 nursing homes and laboratories have applied for renewal of their licences by depositing the requisite fees. We will urge the collector and district magistrate, Khurda and DMET, Bhubaneswar to initiate legal action against the proprietors and owners of the nursing homes, clinics, diagnostics centres that have violated the Orissa Clinic Establishment (Control & Regulation) Act, 1990,” vigilance officials further said.
