Bhubaneswar, April 18: Bhubaneswar emerged overall champions in the State Karate Championships, organised by Orissa Karate Association, at Utkal Karate School here. The tournament ended late Sunday evening. Rourkela and Koraput secured the second and third positions respectively.
In the men’s 18-20 years category, Dillip Kumar Behera of Bhubaneswar bagged gold medals in both the Kata and Kumite sections. Sakiya Parween of Sundargarh won the yellow metals in the same events of the female segment. However, it was the performance of some of the kids in the under-seven segment in both boys’ and girls’ that caught the eye. Ayush Singh dominated the boys’ U-7 events winning the Kata and the Kumite.
