Bhubaneswar, July 26: It’s been 18 years of that deadly battle fought between India and Pakistan. Yes, we are talking of the Kargil war of 1999—its utterance initially raises the goose bumps and later leaves a smile of victory on our faces. But, on deeper analysis, the mixed feeling of fear
and pride fades away, leaving behind the tragic tales of sacrifices at the border. The denizens in the city remembered the Kargil brave hearts on the Kargil Vijay Diwas, Wednesday Students and teachers at DAV Public School, Pokhariput paid floral tributes to the martyrs. Dressed as soldiers, some students presented a skit in front of the au
dience to honour the martyrs. They also presented a dance drama on the occasion. “We will never forget the sacrifices made by our soldiers. They sacrificed their lives for our nation. This whole event was a humble tribute to our soldiers. We have been protected by our heroes,” Sakti Prasanna Mohanty, a staff of the school said. Students and teachers of Saraswati Vidya Mandir also participated in a pa
triotism talk. The speakers dwelled on the importance of the day. Narayan Seva foundation organised a candle light vigil to observe the Kargil Victory Day in the Kargil Nagar Slum development committee premises. Social media users also expressed their gratitude towards the Indian armed forces through their posts on the Internet. People posted pictures and quotes on the Indian Army.
