BHUBANESWAR: Art Of Giving, an initiative based on the philosophy that practices giving as an art will be celebrating its sixth yearly commemoration Friday with this year’s theme being ‘BAG OF HAPPINESS’ wherein the ‘BAG’ represents tools that add to learning.
This initiative of giving was given shape by Achyuta Samanta – an educationist, social activist, social reformer and Founder of KIIT and KISS May 17, 2013, and since then every year this day has been celebrated as International Day of Art of Giving.
From a very tender age, Samanta was determined to eliminate sufferings. In this pursuit, he found that the key to true happiness and peace lies in unlocking the ‘Art of Giving’ in each individual. He has completely dedicated his life in serving others and he has been working ceaselessly to alleviate affliction and reduce the number of people living in hunger, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment.
Every year, this occasion is celebrated based on a specific theme chosen to reflect the challenges and imperatives of life. This year’s particular theme ‘Bag of Happiness’ has been decided keeping in mind ‘learning as a lifelong process’ and nothing can resonate with it better than education as education develops a perspective of looking at life.
It is not just about the lessons in textbooks but about the lessons of life which has no time restriction rather a lifelong experience. Education can help us face the challenges and obstacles of life too.
Samanta said, “We are delighted to declare that the sixth annual observance of Art of Giving will be celebrated all across the globe with people contributing materials in ‘Bag of Happiness’ that add to learning. This year we contemplate to be covering 6 continents – 120 countries, 29 states, 250 cities and 10,000+ villages, army, navy, air Force, Police, Lawyers, Students, Policymakers and much more.”
Nudging people to contribute to the cause, he said, “Kindly come forward and join this social movement by contributing generously and become a part of this endeavour -‘Art of Giving’.”
