post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 3: As many as 1500 music lovers thronged the Exhibition Ground in order to enjoy ‘rain-mud splash festival’ with pop music, organised by Liquid, an association of pop music, comprising three city-based groups, K1, WEINC and Urban Party people.
Liquid, reportedly, organised the mud-splash festival for the first in the state to attract young people of the city. “We usually notice that mud-splash festivals take place outside Orissa; however, our association planned to introduce it this year to attract young people. In fact, a significant number of people has already registered and many people are still on the queue. I believe this music fest would become a big festival in Orissa,” said Jay Debata, owner of Urban Party People.
“There is no age limit. Anybody can enter the ground after paying the registration fee of Rs 250. People also registered for the programme online,” he said.
Youngsters, who apparently loved pop music, thoroughly enjoyed themselves through the rain dance. “This is awesome. I have never attended such a festival ever. My feet could not stop when music was on. I along with my friends enjoyed to the fullest during the programme,” said Rakesh Ranjan, a participant.
This apart, participants enjoyed different kinds of DJ shows presented by nine popular DJ masters. Many among the crowd were seen gorging on delicious food available in the venue, as they soaked in the music and the ambience.
“It is really fascinating. I love DJs. I never have had such fun as I experienced today. Ten of us have come all the way from Berhampur in order to take part in this festival. Initially it was tough to convince our parents, but finally they allowed us to attend this fest,” said Manisha Tripathy.
Acknowledging that there were many security-related issues, owner of K1 group Waibhab Choudhury said, “We have made arrangements for adequate fire extinguishers. There is special security at the entrance. Besides, we have employed special guards in order to take care of any possible trouble during the programme.”
Out of 50 members of Liquid, around 25 are just students. All of them are involved in this fest, as they love music and want to promote music throughout the nation.
“We have organised many programmes during the last four years. Last year, we organised a programme titled ‘Aries-3’ at hotel Presidency. The audience present there were mesmerised by the performance. We have been encouraged by their positive response,” said Waibhab.
“We dedicate this fest to earthquake victims in Nepal. We will support those hit by the natural calamity,” he added.
