Civet cat rescued from well in Berhampur

Berhampur: Local residents rescued a civet cat from a well at Auto Nagar near First Gate in Berhampur Sunday.

According to reports, some locals heard unusual sounds from the well and they saw the civet cat struggling to come out of it.

Presumed it to be a hyena, the locals informed the forest officials, police and fire service personnel.

However, when they realised that the animal is a civet cat, they tied a plastic tray with a rope and threw it into the well.

When the animal climbed and sat atop the tray, they pulled the rope and rescued it.

After resting for while under the scorching sunlight, the civet cat ran away towards the agricultural field.

Although the villagers rescued the animal, the forest, police and fire personnel also helped them in the operation that lasted two hours.
