Bhubaneswar: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convenor Saurav Das is in Bhubaneswar Monday to meet protesters and those on hunger strike demonstrating against alleged irregularities in school textbooks.
Das visited a government primary school in BJB Nagar in Bhubaneswar as part of CJP’s “School Theek Karo” campaign, which focuses on inspecting infrastructure and facilities in government schools.
Das said he will meet members of the ‘Nabnirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan’, who are protesting against school textbook irregularities. He is accompanied by CJP Joint Secretary (Organisation) Balkrishna Shukla and members of the organisation’s Odisha unit.

Notably, more than 1,600 errors were reported in the state board’s school textbooks, and among the glaring ones were scientist Isaac Newton being described as an ace pilot and Odisha’s Niyamgiri Hills being placed in Jharkhand.
Faced with criticism from parents, teachers, and political parties over the errors, the state government July 1, 2026 announced that the mistakes would be corrected and new textbooks would be supplied to students.
Notably, the Odisha government Monday started distributing corrected school textbooks across the state after incorporating necessary changes. Around 45,000 books were distributed today in Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Jatani, Salepur and Nischintakoili. The distribution includes Odia textbooks for classes II to VI and Urdu textbooks for classes VI to VIII.
