Phulbani: The mutilated body of a Class IV girl student was found from a forest at Kotagad in Kandhamal district Saturday.
According to reports, the eight-year-old girl had gone to a nearby nullah to attend nature’s call after returning from school at 2 pm. When the girl did not return home for several hours, her parents searched for her and later lodged a complaint with the police.
The police launched a search operation and later found the girl’s body from the Hatakata forest.
Police suspected that the girl might have raped and then murdered.
