New Delhi: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday met external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and ambassadors of different countries in New Delhi ahead of the ‘Make in Orissa’ event in order to woo foreign investors to invest in the state.
The CM also attended a meeting with Sushma Swaraj in the national capital with the ambassadors and high commissioners of more than 25 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Norway, Spain, Italy, UAE and Saudi Arabia to apprise them about the upcoming conclave in Bhubaneswar.
Later, speaking to reporters, Patnaik said, “We had very productive discussions Thursday in the national capital with the envoys. We are looking forward to strengthening our trade and business relationships with various countries and emerge as the manufacturing hub of the East.”
Swaraj, while addressing the gathering Thursday, said, “I appreciate the initiatives of the Orissa government and the industry-friendly ecosystem available in the state. It is a matter of pride that in the race of smart cities Bhubaneswar has emerged at the top.”
Swaraj also spoke of the abundance of natural resources and availability of skilled labourers in the coastal state.
A delegation from the state also took part in the meeting to apprise the representatives about the event which was also attended by state industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra. The delegation during the meeting presented competitive advantages of the state as a manufacturing destination and shared information about more than 200 ‘ready-to-invest’ projects in the state in diverse sectors and areas including industrial parks, textiles, healthcare, manufacturing, food processing, urban infrastructure, petrochemicals, tourism and downstream industries.
Mishra, while discussing the advantages that the state offers, also talked about the Orissa Industrial Development Plan and the incentives and assistance it offers to the industrial bodies to make help in establishing their units and doing business in the state.
