Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: BJD Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday met MPs, MLAs and leaders of six districts in two phases to review preparedness of the party in these districts ahead of panchayat polls.
He reportedly asked the leaders to mobilise party workers and expedite activities at grass roots level to ensure a good performance in the ensuing polls. In the first phase, Patnaik held discussion with MPs, MLAs, district presidents and observers of Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Kandhamal, while in the second phase he met MP, MLAs and leaders of Angul and Dhenkanal at his residence here.
Kandhamal MP Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh, Law Minister Arun Sahoo, MLA Samir Ranjan Das and many other leaders of the ruling party attended the first phase meeting in the morning, while MP Tathagata Satpathy, Minister Prafulla Mallick and Debi Mishra, MLA Nrusingha Charan Sahu, Mahesh Sahu and other MLAs and leaders attended the second phase meeting in the evening.
Party sources revealed the Chief Minister asked leaders to ensure proper coordination, mobilise workers and hold meetings at district and panchayat level to expedite party activities.
“We have been asked to mobilise party workers from booth to panchayat to district level and have also been asked to widen party activities in the coming days,” said Minister Prafulla Mallick after the meeting in the evening.
Meanwhile MLA Samir Das, who attended the review meeting in the morning, said, “We don’t have any rift among our leaders. The kind of development works the BJD government has taken up under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in last 16 years, it has been widely accepted by the people of the state and it will reflect in the upcoming panchayat polls.”
“We have our organisational activities in continuation. Our party is fully prepared to face panchayat elections and is hopeful of performing well,” said law minister Arun Sahoo who also attended the review meeting in the morning.
The Chief Minister has so far reviewed the party’s preparation in nearly 20 districts. He will be holding such meeting for the remaining districts this week.
