CM felicitates Good Samaritan Debapriya

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday felicitated a Good Samaritan of Balasore, Debapriya Samal, who rescued daughter-in-law of veteran freedom fighter Laxmi Indira Panda at the mid-night of April 17.
Appreciating the humanitarian gesture of Samal, Patnaik presented him a memento. The CM said his inspiring work will encourage others to help people in distress.
He also directed the Director General of Police (DGP), KB Singh, to search and find out the grandson of Laxmi Panda, who is still missing. Narrating the incident to media persons, Samal said he was doubly fortunate as on the one hand, the elderly woman he rescued happened to be a family member of Captain Laxmi Indira Panda and on other hand he has the fortune to be
honoured by the CM.
Following the order of CM, Balasore district social welfare officer along with a constable escorted Laxmi’s daughter-in-law Sujata Panda to her residence at Jeypore. The joy of being felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function to commemorate bicentenary of Paika Rebellion was short-lived for freedom fighter Laxmi Indira’s daughter-in-law Sujata Panda and son Surendra Panda as they lost their way at Bhubaneswar railway station and boarded wrong trains.
