Berhampur: Paying a whirlwind visit to hometurf Ganjam district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation for a slew of projects worth Rs 300 crore.
The CM flew from the State capital by his chopper and got down at Palur Hill under Rangeilunda Block in the district from where he went to inaugurate the Biju Patnaik Adarsha Vidyalaya in Palur Hills area of Mantridi panchayat under Rangeilunda block.
Constructed by ST & SC Development Department at a budget of Rs 45cr, the Mega Urban Educational infrastructure, in an area of 7.65 acres, aims to provide urban English Medium Education (Std VI to Std XII) to around 1500 ST and SC students.
Notably, the foundation stone was laid by the CM 11.06.2016.
Another, foundation stone has also been laid by the CM for a 1000 seated OBC hostel for boys and girls (500 seated each) and a 200 seated Minority hostel under the aegis of Odisha Government’s ST & SC Development Department at Karapalli village near Berhampur University.
It is proposed to construct above four numbers of Hostel at Rs 18 crore, for OBC & Minority Post-Matric students. It will provide residential facility for 1200 boys and girls of the above community those who will pursue their Post-Matric education in and around Berhampur.
Later, the CM went on to inaugurate the new HRD Centre building, extension of Library building, new Academic Block of Berhampur University and various developmental projects under Gopalpur Assembly constituency. Later he addressed a gathering there.
In his address, the CM said that Odisha has been able to carve a niche in the global arena by successfully hosting Hockey World Cup. Odisha is now a role model for States, he said. He also said that over Rs 4 lakh crore investment proposals have been garnered through ‘Make In Odisha’ that would cater to the job opportunities for around 5 lakh unemployed youths.
From Palur Hills inaugural site, the CM flew to City High School Ground in Berhampur and inaugurated there Berhampur-Gopalpur ROB, new building of District Tourist Office, newly built ITI, Berhampur Academic-cum-Worshop building, new building of Women Police Station, new building of Medical Police Outpost and Barrack and various development projects under BeMC.
He also laid foundation stone of various development projects under BeMC, Hygienic Fish Market at Berhampur, distributed assets and benefits to the beneficiaries under various developmental schemes. Soon after the programmes, the Chief Minister addressed a public meeting at Khallikote College Ground in Berhampur before his departure back to Bhubaneswar.
