Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Tuesday launched affordable housing initiatives and announced plans to develop 12 playgrounds in Bhubaneswar as the state government stepped up urban development efforts ahead of the festive season.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for rental and transit housing facilities. The government also plans to inaugurate 12 playgrounds across the capital to strengthen recreational infrastructure.
Focus on affordable housing
Addressing the event, Majhi said the projects reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of helping people living in slums and kutcha houses move into permanent homes with better living conditions.
He said improving the living standards of slum residents and people below the poverty line had remained a key priority over the past 12 years.
Majhi also credited the Prime Minister’s initiatives with helping more than 25 crore people rise above the poverty line.
