CM Naveen Patnaik greets farmers on National Farmers’ Day

Bhubaneswar: Recognising the farmers’ efforts on ‘National Farmers’ Day’, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his greetings to the farming community.

Taking to his micro-blogging site Twitter, Odisha Chief Minister wrote, “I extend my heartfelt greetings to all the farmers who provide food for the World. The contribution made by farmers for the progress of the society is incomparable. On this occasion of Choudhury Charan Singh Jayanti, I offer my prayers and extend my respects to the farmers’ role in the society.”

 

Every year Dec 23, the National Farmer’s Day in India, also known as Kisan Divas in Hindi, is celebrated on the birthday of the 5th Prime Minister, Choudhary Charan Singh. Singh was a farmer’s leader, who introduced many policies to improve the lives of the Indian farmers.
