Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch one of the state’s ambitious scheme under Orissa Urban Housing Mission also known as ‘Abaas’ here Sunday. He will also launch the Policy for housing for all in urban areas, Orissa-2015 at a special event being organised here at a hotel.
Before launching the two schemes, Patnaik will lay foundation stone for housing projects at Ghatikia, Pandara, Nakhara and Chandrasekharpur of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA for 5600 houses.
The Policy for ‘housing for all’ in urban areas will provide enabling framework for implementation of affordable housing projects, slum rehabilitation and redevelopment (R&R) projects and facilitate development of housing schemes in urban areas, especially those for economic weaker sections and lower income group housing, an official of the housing and urban development department said.
With the implementation of the policy, the government has targeted to address the housing deficit in urban areas over a period of seven years, sources said.
Stating that people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) would reap the highest benefit from the policy.
