Koraput: A special review meeting on the proposed Koraput Bypass construction was held at the Koraput District Collector’s office Monday evening. The meeting, chaired by Koraput Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan and attended by several key public representatives and officials, deliberated upon the long-pending issues related to the project.

The meeting primarily focused on reviewing the status of the bypass project, its essentiality for easing traffic congestion in Koraput town, and the challenges the proposed project is facing. Public representatives expressed concern over the increasing vehicular load on the town’s main roads, particularly heavy transport vehicles passing through the narrow stretches, which often cause traffic snarls and pose safety risks.

The bypass, they noted, would serve as a lifeline by diverting highway-bound vehicles and reducing pollution and accidents within the town area. The Collector assured all stakeholders that the administration is committed to resolving technical and land acquisition-related hurdles that have delayed the grounding of the project. He emphasised the importance of cooperation between government departments, elected representatives, and locals to ensure the bypass is completed at the earliest.
