Commissionerate policing in Rourkela soon: DGP

Rourkela, Nov 22: Rourkela will soon be included under commissionerate policing system while a cyber police station will come up in the city to track online frauds.

This was stated by director general of police KB Singh while speaking to mediapersons before attending a review meeting on the law and order situation in Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Rourkela police districts at the district police headquarters here Sunday.

Even as Maoists are active in 11 districts of the state their activities have reduced to a great extent, Singh said, adding vacant posts in the police department will be filled up soon.
Combing operation in districts bordering Jharkhand has been intensified, he said, adding security forces are keeping an eye on the ultras those who are straying into the state due to panchayat elections in Jharkhand.

He said the outposts bordering Jharkhand will be soon upgraded and those of which have remained closed will be made operational. Besides, the Jareikela police outpost which plays an important role in border policing will soon be made operational, the DGP said.
Moreover, a proposal has been made to set up more cyber police stations in the state, he added.

Singh termed the death of two ultras in a recent police encounter and seizure of arms from Chandiposh forest a success for the state police.

Director (Intelligence) Sunil Ray, IG (Intelligence) DS Kutte, IG (Operation) Soumendra Priyadarshi, IG (western range) RK Sharma, Keonjhar SP Kabita Jalan, Sundargarh SP R Prakash and Rourkela SP Aniruddha Kumar Singh attended the review meeting.
