Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Saturday lashed out at the BJP-led Union government for pushing through Ordinances on important decisions without taking the Parliament into confidence.
Claiming that the BJP-led government has brought around 10 Ordinances in the last eight months, PCC president Prasad Harichandan said, “The Modi government has brought Ordinances one after the other without taking Parliament into confidence. It is undemocratic and the government is functioning in an autocratic manner.”
Harichandan claimed even the President had suggested to the Centre not to implement policies through Ordinances.
However, BJP leader Sajjan Sharma rejected the allegations of the Congress and said the Union government always had the interests of the people in mind and has introduced a lot of pro-poor and pro-people schemes after coming to power.
The Congress is trying to play cheap politics as the Union government was receiving a lot of praise by foreign countries for its work.
The BJP hit back at the Congress and sought to remind it that a lot of Ordinances were brought by Congress governments under Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh.
Harichandan’s remarks came after the Union government recently brought a mining Ordinance to allocate mineral resources of the country through auction mode.
