Bhubaneswar: The infighting in the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) came to the fore once again Thursday. Two groups of Congress workers were engaged in a clash at the Congress Bhawan here just before the party’s OBC Cell meeting. Among others, OPCC, president, Niranjan Patnaik and Jatni MLA Sura Routray were present at the office when the skirmish happened.

Sources said that two groups from Jagatsinghpur district were involved in the clash. The supporters of former Tirtol MLA Chiranjib Biswal accused the members of the other group of siding up with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) during the Tirtol by-election in November, 2020. This led to the clash between the members of two groups.

However, Patnaik and Routray intervened and pacified the members.

When contacted, Patnaik said an inquiry will be done and disciplinary action would be taken against those involved in the clash.
