Cop dismissed for not joining duty for 5 yrs

Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Bijay Kumar Sharma Friday dismissed inspector Prafulla Kumar Sahu from service for his gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, disobedience of orders and for his unauthorised absence from duty for more than five years.

DGP office sources said the police inspector was removed as per provisions of Rule 72 (2) of Odisha Service Code.

Sahu was relieved from Keonjhar district July 31, 2011 to join his new place of posting in Bolangir district.

But he did not turn up to join his new posting on the plea of being ill without providing any supporting document of medical treatment.

He also willfully avoided show-cause notices issued to him from time to time and intentionally avoided to appear before the chief district medical officer (CDMO) Bolangir for his medical examination.

Sahu was removed from service as per the Odisha Service Code.
