Malkangiri: Showing a great sense of social responsibility and their humane face, the district police Thursday admitted a woman, a Maoist’s mother, to a hospital as she was critically ill.
Earlier BSF jawans had earned appreciation by helping pregnant women and patients of Swabhiman Anchal (formerly known as cut-off region of Chitrakonda block) with medical aids.
According to reports, Kalimela police facilitated healthcare services to Rame Madi, the mother of hardcore Maoist leader Randev, a resident of Badatekguda village.
After coming to know that Rame was suffering from geriatric illness, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagamohan Meena asked Kalimela IIC Ram Prasad Nag to make arrangements for her proper treatment.
Kalimela police, with the help of Rame’s two sons, admitted her to the nearest community health centre.
Rame is under treatment as she was suffering from low haemoglobin level and hypertension and she would be given walking aid if required, hospital sources said. The family was reluctant to admit her to hospital due to her Maoist link but an SOG team managed to convince them, it was learnt.
While Rame’s elder son Randev is a frontline Maoist leader, she lives with her two other sons.
Randev had joined the left wing extremists in 2004 and is working as the member of Kalimela Dalam divisional committee, the SP said.
