Paralakhemundi: Police are still clueless on the mass suicide of Parala king’s secretary Ananga Manjari Patra and her three siblings while the SIT members Wednesday talked to the employees of the palace on the second day of the probe.
The members also spoke to the kin of the manager and the lawyer of the king over the issue.
The probe team arrived at Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo’s residence and interrogated Bijay Kumar Patra, a palace staffer. His statements were recorded. Tripati Behera, who was engaged in hitting the bell of the palace and two priests – Santosh Panda and Ramchandra Panda would also be interrogated, officials said. Besides, the royal priest Mrutunjay would also be questioned over the matter, they added.
Meanwhile, another team Wednesday met lawyer LK Adhikari at his residence in Gopini Sahi. The members sought to know about king’s properties and the dispute between two siblings of the royal family. The SIT team also met Ananga Manjari’s sister at Karansahi in a bid to get some leads in the shocking incident that rocked the state. Ananga Manjari along with her two brothers and a sister ended lives after allegations surfaced over her misappropriation of the king’s properties.
On the other hand, the probe team’s failure to reach the bottom of the case after six days into the incident surprised many. It was learnt that the Ananga Manjari and his two brothers Sanjay and Santosh used to be on mobile phones at frequent intervals. However, there is no information with police over the status of the handsets. Locals demanded the phones be seized since they smelt a rat over the disappearance of the electronic gadgets. PNN
