Nayagarh: In a major breakthrough, Nayagarh town police Tuesday arrested two persons for printing and circulating fake currency notes.
The police have seized counterfeit currency notes to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh from the possession of the accused duo.

“The arrested had gone to Utkal Automobiles showroom here in the morning. The duo consulted sales staffers for purchase of a motorbike and accordingly deposited the requisite amount. The deposited currency notes were found to be fake ones,” town police station IIC Jaydeep Mohanty said.
“After being questioned by the showroom staff, both the accused tried to flee. On being informed, we rushed to the spot immediately and nabbed them,” the IIC added.
Mohanty further informed that out of Rs 1,30,000 deposited at the showroom, only Rs 5,000 were legal tenders. The notes were in denominations of Rs 500.
Notably, the prime accused belongs to Koska area of Khandapada who resides in a house at Raja Bagicha in Nayagarh town. Town police raided his house and seized a desktop and a printer alleged used to print the money.
Police have registered a case and launched a detailed probe into the incident. Involvement of another arrested person, said to be a legal practitioner, is being verified, police said.
