Rayagada: Three persons including an elderly couple were killed due to wall collapse following the heavy rainfall in two separate incidents Saturday morning.
The first incident was reported from Rayagada, where a couple died after a portion of the mud wall of their house caved in on them. The deceased were identified as Madhab Laya and his wife Jasobanti Laya.
The duo was sleeping in their small thatched hut when the mishap occurred. Due to excess rain, their house wall made of mud and bricks weakened and caved in on them, sources said. Their son also sustained injuries in the mishap.
In another incident, a mentally-challenged woman died after being crushed under the wall of her house at Pitaguda village under Junagarh block in Kalahandi district.
