Kendrapara: Kendrapara SDJM Nihar Ranjan Sahu Thursday ordered the Town police IIC to register a case against Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda, who has been expelled from the BJD, on the allegation of filing a false affidavit during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The court took cognizance of the case while adjudicating a petition filed by Dillip Kumar Das of Udaynagar under Derabish police station and issued the direction to the police to investigate the case under Section 156 (3) of CrPc and submit a report to the court by July 25.
The complainant in his petition said Panda had deliberately concealed the fact in his affidavit filed under Form-26 during the 2014 Parliamentary elections that he is the vice-chairman of IMFA and also draws salary from the said company.
He prayed the court to take cognizance of the offence committed by Panda under Section-125 (A) of the Representation of the People Act and under Section 415, 416, 417, 418, 419, 420 of IPC and ordered for the investigation of the case.
Gopal Chandra Lenka, a resident of Harianta under Tangi police limits of Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency, March 15 last had also filed a case in the SDJM court accusing Panda of filing false and misleading affidavit.
