Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer and Crime Branch Director General Vinaytosh Mishra will take additional charge of Odisha DGP from August 16, following the retirement of incumbent YB Khurania, an official notification said Friday.
Mishra was given the additional responsibility following approval from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today.
“After the retirement of current DGP Y B Khurania August 16, Vinaytosh Mishra, DGP, CID, Crime Branch will remain in additional charge of DGP (Head of Police Force) with effect from August 16, until further orders,” the notification said.
Mishra, a 1993-batch IPS officer who was scheduled to retire in a few months from government service, will take over the additional responsibility to ensure continuity in the leadership of the Odisha Police, sources said.
Notably, Khurania met CM Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar earlier Friday, ahead of the impending change at the top of the state police force.
