Cuttack: A notorious criminal was injured during an encounter with the police here Sunday . The accused, Uttam Singh alias Kabua, received a bullet injury on his leg. He was involved in several cases including hurling of bombs at a PCR van in Kurunti village Friday .
Kabua has been admitted to Cuttack’s S.C.B Medical College and Hospital.
Acting on a tip-off, around 8:10pm , Inspector-in-charge Sudhansu Bhusan Jena of Cuttack Sadar directed ASI Ashok Kumar Patra to reach T.K Villa of Kothapatana Mauza area along with his squad. Kabua, who was present there, allegedly opened fire at the cops. Police retaliated,” cops said.
ASI Patra narrowly escaped a bullet. Before Kabula’s next fire, the ASI fired at him, leaving him injured. The cops snatched his pistol and neutralised him, it was stated.
