Cuttack, April 30: Cuttack-A emerged champions of the OCA U-19 Inter-District cricket tournament defeating BBSR-A on the virtue of first innings lead on the last day of the three-day final at the Barabati Stadium here Saturday.
Resuming the overnight score of 123 for no loss, the Cuttack brigades scored 302/7 at stumps. Rajesh Dhupar (95) who was retired hurt Friday, Md Akram (78) and Ramachandra Behera (50 n o) scored superb half centuries. Suryakant Samal (3/55) was the pick of the bowlers.
Earlier, BBSR-A were bowled out for 240 with Kartik Biswal (90) scoring a wonderful half century. Suni Roul (4/88) was the wrecker-in-chief for the hosts.

Orissa thrash AIU
Orissa thrashed All India University (AIU) 4-0 to clinch the bronze medal for the first time in the Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship (A-Division) at Saifai in Etawah, Saturday.
Kunjan Toppo (34th & 53rd) scored twice while Dipsan Tirkey (36th) and Nilam Sanjib Xess (53rd) found their names in the score sheet.

Cricket Association for the visually impaired (CAVI) announced Saturday a 15-member Orissa team, which will participate in the National Cricket Tournament for the Visually Impaired at Hyderabad, April 4-8. Md Jafar Iqbal has been appointed as the skipper of the team.

Cricket tourney
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) will organise the Inter-District Women’s cricket tournament here April 8-15. A total of 33 teams will participate in the tournament.
