Cuttack, March 22: Cuttack clinched the title of the OCA Inter-Distrfict Women’s cricket tournament, by registering am emphatic nine wicket victory over Keonjhar in a lop-sided final at the Bidanasi Ground here Sunday.
Keonjhar, who had entered the final for the first time won the toss and elected to bat first. But the visiting team could not face a fiery spell from Rajashree Swain (5/12) and were bowled out for a meager 48 runs. Madhusmita Behera (2/6) and Gangotri Behera also supported Rajashree well, scalping two wickets each.
In reply, the hosts made a mockery of the chase as they overhauled the total in 13.5 overs for the loss of only one wicket. OCA treasurer Satya Mohanty joined as the chief guest and distributed the prizes. Champion Cuttack bagged a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with a trophy and Keonjhar took home Rs 10,000 and the runners-up trophy.
