Cuttack: Cuttack teams, both A and B, started off their campaign in style as they won their respective matches on the opening day of Kalahandi Cup cricket tournament here at the BOSE Cricket Ground here, Friday.
Cuttack A rode on fine knock by Odisha Ranji player Rajesh Dhuper (98 n o, 62b, 13×4, 5×6) to thrash Gajapati by 10 wickets. Batting first Gajapati were bundled out for a paltry 133 runs. Alok Sahoo (3/17) and Abhishek Rout (3/40) were pick of the Cuttack bowlers. In reply Cuttack just needed 15.3 overs to reach the target.
In the other game at SCB Medical College Ground, Dhiraj Singh’s (5/23) five-wicket haul helped Cuttack B register a nine-wicket victory over Koraput. Batting first, Koraput were bowled out for 134 with G Chandrasekhar (75) emerging top scorer. In reply, Cuttack took only 22.4 overs to overhaul the target as Abhinash Nayak (80) led the chase for the winning team.
