Bhubaneswar: In a bid to check the growing digital crimes in the capital city effectively DGP Abhay inaugurated a Cyber Complex in Bhubaneswar, Monday.
Addressing the media persons, DGP Abhay said, “Cyber crime is a big challenge for our whole police department as the investigation of cyber crime need to be done more efficiently. We have also initiated steps accordingly and they are to be started gradually.”
“In a bid to check cyber crime effectively the police personnel need to be specialized in dealing with cyber crime. For the save I have already discussed with the National Police Academy. The National Digital Crime Resource and Training Centre will guide our personnel in this regard”, added he.
The DGP also said that earlier the Cyber Crime Police Station (PS) which was in Cuttack earlier has been relocated to Bhubaneswar.
There are four Cyber Crime Police Stations in the state. In future the State police will train at least one person of a police station to deal with cyber crime, clarified the DGP.
It is worthy to mention here that cyber crime has been on the rise in the state over the past few years. Last year, about 1500 cyber crime cases had been registered in various police stations. The number has now increased to more than 2000 in the year 2020.
The newly inaugurated Cyber Complex will impart training to the State Police personnel. Around 200 cops will be trained here on how to deal with the cyber criminals using new technology.
On the other hand, a Social Media Cell will also start functioning from the police station in next six months.
