Cyber forensic division inaugurated

Bhubaneswar: The Director General of Police R P Sharma inaugurated the Cyber Forensic Division at the State Forensic Laboratory here Wednesday.

The state has been witnessing a rise in the cases of cyber crimes. The division has been equipped with latest equipment and software worth Rs 1 crore, Sharma said adding that the division will help the state police to augment its investigation while probing into cyber crimes.

Two scientific officers, who have undergone training at various institutes including Central Forensic Science Laboratories, have been appointed in the division.

“Earlier we were referring cases to other Cyber Forensic Laboratories due to which the investigation process was bit late. But with the launching of this Cyber Forensic Division here, I hope we will be getting the reports soon. Two scientific officers have been appointed to handle this division,” the DGP said.
