Bhubaneswar: All government, government-aided, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and privately managed schools in Khordha and Kataka district will remain closed from 1 pm Tuesday to October 28 in view of the severe weather conditions triggered by Cyclone Arnab, according to an official order.

As per the order dated October 27, schools will close after serving the mid-day meal (MDM) to students at 1 pm Tuesday. However, teachers and other school staff have been directed to attend school as usual during this period.
The order also stated that no leave would be allowed for school staff during the closure period. School authorities have been instructed to keep their buildings and necessary facilities ready to be used as shelters, if required, amid the threat of heavy rainfall.
Headmasters have also been directed to arrange roster duty to ensure schools remain accessible round the clock from October 27. They have been asked to extend full cooperation to the district administration whenever necessary.
